SUPERNATURAL is an international group show ideated especially for Kunsthalle Andratx. The show features painting, sculpture, video, film, installation, photography, and new media by about 20 international contemporary artists. The artists’ works are multidimensional and multilayered, what they share are the almost paradoxical references in their exploration of theme. Their subversive, incisive and sensitive commentaries on the subject create a very varied imagery.

Our idealistic concepts of nature are proving to be archaic, and we are re-awakening to a new version of nature. The exhibition SUPERNATURAL reflects this vision of a nature strangely altered through cross-pollination with popular culture, technology and romanticism. While "nature" refers to both real and fictional ideas of nature, "super" relates to constructed images, artifice, utopia or to scientific research.

SUPERNATURAL explores nature as a site, as an object of perception and a symptom of fascination, while acknowledging that it is also a culturally produced concept coded in a specific time and space. At the interface of nature, reality and artifice the exhibition develops new visions of nature that prove their contemporary critical background as well as a new particular romantic sensitivity for nature.
